Fifties Pastel

We can all think of Fifties icons and the key looks associated with them… This summer, we’re mixing them up for 2013, playing the cute little details card to the hilt: bows, flowers or flounces, and 7/8^thlengths for new-generation Capri pants.

And it’s Ségolène, a pretty communications student, who is playing the fifties heroine in three looks.

We all remember the forbidden romance between Baby and Johnny in Dirty Dancing and we have all tried a hundred times to reproduce the routines in our living room. Instead of risking spraining an ankle, we’re pinching the heroine’s Fifties Lolita look. A knotted shirt over turned-up skinny jeans, a pair of ballet flats, and you’re good to go!

For this special fashion lesson devoted to the Calla print, we are welcoming Chloé Dugast, a fashion stylist at ELLE France as well as a beauty stylist. She attaches a great deal of importance to well-being, the secret to a healthy and fashionable attitude, and defines her style as hippy rock. Chloé adores wearing a reworked kimono, leggings and biker boots – her signature look!

Mother’s Day: we’re taking you to Brazil!

The beach, sun, exotic glamour… This year, Comptoir has decided to give Mother’s Day a “tropical chic” twist, taking its inspiration from Brazil and the paradisiacal beaches of Copacabana. That’s right, there’s no point in saying that Mother’s Day is the same thing every year, you just have to rework it by riding this summer’s trend for mixing colors and prints!

Comptoir has come up with irresistible presents to give or receive! Two T-shirts, one with a “Brazilian beach” postcard feel and the other with the face of our mascot Léon traveling in Brazil, the matching cotton scarf and a bracelet in the colors of summer: bright yellow, neon pink and swimming pool blue… All teamed with the same message: “Amo te mamã… from Copacabana”

“In May, time to play”: what a nice expression for a month that starts off with a holiday! We can’t help but have sunny weather to complement the numerous days off and long weekends which characterize this pretty little month. It’s time to put our winter wardrobe definitely away and adopt items which are easy to wear, flowing and light, and with stylish summer prints like our latest exclusive model: the tie print. This original tie-inspired print contrasts cobalt blue and neon yellow and features side bands which add a sassy, sporty touch to the look. So fresh!

Let’s admire three variations on the tie print with Marie, a young and pretty student of design and science, who was spotted during our Facebook casting.

Music is entering museums in both Paris and London! The musical comedies of Jacques Demy delight audiences at the Paris Cinémathèque, while David Bowie is rocking the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

The Enchanted World of Jacques Demy is yours to discover until August 4^th at the Cinémathèque Française. You’ll find excerpts of films highlighted by photographs, paintings, drawings and sculptures which have been created by the director himself or by the artists who influenced him (Jean Cocteau, David Hockney, Alexander Calder, Raoul Dufy and Niki de Saint-Phalle).

And just how can you blend into the atmosphere in a fashionable way? By adopting the colorful pop spirit of the Jacques Demy exhibition in Paris. Become an updated “Mademoiselle Rochefort” with an ultra pink and white twist on a sixties-style dress.

For the very first time, the David Bowie is exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum tells the story of the fifty-year career of the singer with different-colored eyes. Displaying over 300 items (original costumes, photographs, sketches, diary excerpts, etc.), the exhibition explores the Bowie style and journeys through his free, fantastic world to the music of his greatest hits. A cultural icon, Bowie is one of the most influential artists of his generation, in particular because of his collaborations in all areas of art. And now on to New York! Thanks to Uniqlo, you can visit the MoMA free of charge on Friday evenings from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. This year, the Japanese brand is the special partner of the famous museum for a program entitled “Uniqlo Free Friday Nights,” which was launched on May 3.

Calla Haynes, the designer of our it-capsule collection « Floral Summer » kindly submitted to a personality test with her usual naturalness and high spirits… along with her dog Lily

We learn that if this collection were an occasion, it would be a « summer wedding in a picturesque village ». Enough to make us yearn for flowers and sunshine!
